Life and death

August 30th, 2007 at 09:11 pm

After an unplanned trip to Indiana, resulting in over $300 spent we are now in the hole. School starts tomorrow. Groceries need to be bought. I see light at the end of the tunnel. Tomorrow is at least Friday! Smile

The unplanned trip was to say goodbye to my DH's grandmother. She is 90 years young and now on hospice. Poor woman, her body is starting to shut down. DH will have to fly up there for the funeral -whenever that may be. There will be another $500 at least. New tires for the mini van and an oil change, racked up another $400. I couldn't see putting our family in danger driving through the mountains hydroplaning on tires that you can see the wires.

Everything has had to go on to cc's lately too. I hate it. The vicious cycle- will it ever end? I hope so!

((hugs)) sorry to hear about Grandmother. he sounds a lot like my own grandma...she was a young spirit trapped in a little old lady's body! ...
As for the vicious circle...it will end, as you now are aware of it!

I know exactly what you mean...when it rains, it pours. We are going through some similar stuff and wish you luck. Just be vigilant with paying the CC's back down and you will be fine. Keep your chin up!

I am very sorry to hear what happened to your grandmother. I hope that she will not have to suffer much.

On a separate note, $400 for tires and an oil change? What kind of tires could possibly cost that much... because I know it's not the oil change!

    Broken Arrow-
Yes, that's how much 4 brand new tires w/ alignment and an oil change cost. At a discount tire store. They weren't the cheapest, but they were not the name brand kind either.

Ouch. That would hurt my pocket book. But I guess the amount makes sense when it's for 4 new tires.

Did you know tire prices can be negociable???? I didn't. My husband and I were at one of the discount places and were deciding on if we were doing to get 2 or 4 new tires. One of the men heard us and offered us a deal if we got 4. (Would of need the other 2 shortly anyhow) Anyway, when it was all said and done it was like we got 25% off. Not bad at all.
